How to Convert Video to MP3 (Safely and Legally)

Extracting the audio from a video can be useful for podcasts, lectures or recordings you made yourself. It is only appropriate when you have the right to use the audio.

Before you convert

Use this only with video you own, recordings you have permission to use, or material that is licensed for reuse. Copyright covers the audio in most videos, and video platforms' terms usually limit downloading. When in doubt, ask the owner.

How to convert

  1. Open Video to MP3.
  2. Choose your video file, such as MP4, MOV or WebM.
  3. Pick an audio quality. High quality gives the best sound, and smaller settings give smaller files.
  4. Click Convert, then download the MP3.

Expect a short wait the first time

The converter engine is about 30 MB, so the first conversion in a session takes longer while it loads. Later conversions are quicker.
